A huge thank you goes out to Dubois REC for helping the Birdseye Volunteer Fire Department with a $5000 grant to purchase new SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) tanks! The current metal tanks weigh between 30-35 pounds empty. With this money, we will be able to purchase new aluminum tanks weighing 18-19 pounds empty. That is a significant difference for our firefighters to carry!
