🚒💧HELP US STAY HYDRATED 💧🚒

With the heat and humidity arriving, the Birdsboro-Union Fire Department is accepting donations of bottled water and Gatorade to help keep our firefighters hydrated while serving our community.

Whether we’re operating at emergency incidents, training, or returning from calls, proper hydration is critical to keeping our members healthy, safe, and ready to respond when needed.

If you would like to donate, please consider dropping donations off at the
Birdsboro Station
📍214 W. First St., Birdsboro during the day from 7am-5pm or drop them off in front of the station at any other time.

Just before 3:00pm today, Station 7 was dispatched to International Fireworks in Union Twp. for a reported Brush Fire. First arriving crews found an approximate 20’x30’ area burning. Brush 6, E49-1, and E64-5 assisted with suppression, overhaul, and water supply.

BUFD along with mutual aid companies were dispatched to the 200 Blk of Mullen Rd in Union Twp. for a reported Structure Fire. Immediately upon the response of Engine 7 and Assistant 7, Berks DES alerted them that there were several explosions in the building. Lieutenant 24 arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire, with a fully involved 50x50 garage. Engine 7 arrived as the first in engine, followed by Engine 24 and Quint 6. Crews immediately went into service with multiple hand lines and a Blitz Fire to protect exposures. Once a positive water supply was secured, Quint 6 went into service with the master stream. Along side of multiple crews of manpower, the property owner assisted in overhaul with equipment on the property. Two fill sites were established at Scott’s Run Lake and High Point Baptist Academy.

Thank you to all the companies involved today, and Thank you to Boyertown Area Fire & Rescue for covering our area while we were operating at the fire. They handled 2 MVAs in Union Twp.

Engine 7, Brush 7 and ATV 7 were dispatched to Warwick Twp. Chester County to assist Twin Valley Fire Department on a working Brush Fire. While crews were gaining access from the south end of the fire, ATV 7 accessed the fire from the north, putting crews just below where the fire was a few weeks ago. ATV 7s crew held the head of the fire until more assisting units were able to reach it from the Left and Right Flanks.

Brush 7 was utilized as a relay pump between the water source at the bottom of the hill and the crews in the woods. BUFD crews were on scene for approximately 8.5 hours.

We would like to Thank Boyertown Area Fire & Rescue for the help, covering Birdsboro and Union Twp for us.

We have 28 EMS trained and certified personnel who are continually improving their skills, to better serve our community. With new protocols in the state of Pennsylvania, qualifying personnel are now able to administer Epinephrine (via check and inject), Albuterol Nebulizer, NARCAN, Glucose checks, and Hemostatic agents.

We are hosting an evening session soon for the personnel who couldn’t make today’s session.
