INDUSTRY SUMMIT RECAP: Southern Tier 8 Regional Board continues it commitment to strengthen the region’s Recovery-to-Work Ecosystem and hosted the 1st Virtual Industry Summit: Recruiting & Retaining Workers in Recovery in June 2020. We want to say a bit THANK YOU to our planning team, partners Family Counseling Services of Cortland Co. Inc., Broome-Tioga Workforce, Tompkins County Legislature, Truth Pharm, Inc., LEAF Council on Alcoholism and Addictions, Rural Health Network of SCNY, Broome County Health Department, Alcohol and Drug Council of Tompkins County, Inc., Otsego County Chamber of Commerce , and the 80 registrants who attended for making this event a success. Our partners showed their commitment to this issue that greatly affects the economic growth of the Southern Tier Region.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
This educational series is designed to introduce the supportive Recovery-to-Work ecosystem in New York State’s Southern Tier to assist employers as they expand job opportunities for highly qualified workers experiencing Substance Use Disorder (SUD). Each session is designed to address different, yet critical aspects of employment and SUD. Incentives and programs available to assist Southern Tier employers, legal issues of hiring workers in recovery, and support services such as transportation and other barriers to employment.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
Small businesses (owners, managers and HR directors), other non-profits, elected officials, treatment professionals, SUD professionals, NYS providers, workforce development and staffing/placement professionals.

Why Attend?

Drones play an important part in the documentation of our water sources. This event will showcase new technologies on how to map your municipality’s water flow with thermal detection and other tools. This data collection is important in assisting municipalities with accidents, construction, etc. to protect water sources and meet government regulations.

-Introduction to Drone technology
-Learn new tools be utilized to meet upcoming permit requirements
-The Regional Board plans to use this technology to help Binghamton & surrounding communities develop the region’s stormwater sewer shed map & meet their EPA requirements
