The Broome County Department of Planning and Economic Development serves to promote the sound and orderly economic and physical growth of Broome County and its constituent municipalities. It provides technical planning guidance and assistance to the County Executive and County Legislature and implements projects and programs designed to improve the economy, environment, and physical infrastructure of the county. The department extends professional services to local municipalities and other public and private entities in the areas of land use planning and zoning, grantsmanship, economic development, cartography, community assistance, research and infrastructure development.

It’s time for the Annual Broome County Riverbank Cleanup! This year’s event will be held on Saturday, October 17th in multiple locations all across Broome and Tioga counties. Sites can be selected from a list of approved options upon registration. To register your team, follow the link below:

This is a great environmental stewardship opportunity to get a group of friends, family, & co-workers together for a day of fun, purpose, and volunteer service!

Here are the steps for your group to join us:
1. Organize your team
2. Designate a Stream Captain who will work with Broome County staff, coordinate volunteers in your group, and attend one mandatory meeting to gather supplies and team packet
3. Register your team online and confirm your site with the EMC 's Riverbank Committee
4. Head out with your team on Saturday 10/17 !
5. Submit all data collected during cleanup online (link will be provided after clean up)

Light supplies i.e. trash bags, disposable gloves, and educational materials will be provided. Please bring your own personal work gloves if you prefer to use these.

The City of Binghamton is developing the Conklin Avenue Neighborhood Business District Plan which will outline an actionable roadmap for future development. The Conklin Avenue corridor extends from South Washington Street to the City’s eastern boundary with the Town of Conklin.

The City is encouraging the public to take a survey to share input and ideas on current issues, potential opportunities and future development of the neighborhood.
