Week One of Kids Academy is officially in the books! 🚒

Our young recruits had an incredible week filled with hands-on learning, new skills, great memories, and plenty of fun along the way. We loved sharing what it takes to be a firefighter and watching these future heroes rise to every challenge.

Thank you to all of our Kids Academy participants, volunteers and sponsors for making this week such a success. We can’t wait to welcome our next group of young recruits for Week Two and do it all again!

Last week we had the opportunity to train on standpipe operations a few hundred feet above our Beautiful City of Biloxi. Huge thank you to Jeff Benker with Elkhart Brass, Mark Lighthill from Key Hose and the IP Casino for making this training possible!

BFD Station 6 🚒 participated in Fire Safety at Camp Wilkes for Biloxi Lions Club and Lions of Mississippi Service Project - a fun camp for visually impaired.

Firefighters 🧑‍🚒👩‍🚒talked about smoked detectors and demonstrated the sound, stop drop and roll, a meeting place outside the home 🏠 in case of an emergency/fire, calling 📱 911 in an emergency, etc.

The kids had a blast cheering on our firefighter, gearing up in his protective gear.

Most of the kids climbed in the fire engine 🚒 and pretended to respond to a call 🚨
