Description: A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per fess Azure and Gules, a fess dancetté Argent overall two broken samurai swords in saltire points to chief, blades at fess point surmounted by a machete erect all Proper; all within a bordure Silver. Beneath the shield is a parted curved Red scroll inscribed “SUSTAIN

THE FIGHT” in Silver letters. Symbolism: The field is red, white and blue and alludes to the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation that the unit was awarded during World War II. The red also stands for Field Artillery and the blue represents Infantry, both part of the Battalion’s history. The white dancetté symbolizes the mountains of Montana. The machete represents the unit’s history in World War II during which they were known as the “Jungleers” under the 163d Infantry and the two broken samurai swords represent the defeat of the Japan forces in Papua, New Guinea, and again in Luzon and the Southern Philippines for which the unit received campaign credit. Background: The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 25 June 2013. Blazon:

Crest: That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Montana Army National Guard: From a wreath Argent and Gules, a fleur-de-lis the middle leaf and tie Or, and outside leaves Argent. Shield: The field is red, white and blue and alludes to the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation that the unit was awarded during World War II. Crest: The crest is that of the Montana Army National Guard. Background: The coat of arms was approved on 25 June 2013.

The 190th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion held Change of Command and Change of Responsibility ceremonies at the Waco Training Area near Billings, Mont. on Aug 6. Lt. Col. Welcome Home!!

Seven Soldiers of the 190th Forward Logistics Element returned to Montana at the Billings Logan International Airport on Aug 6 after spending nine months in Kandahar, Afghanistan. On hand to welcome them home were family, friends and fellow Soldiers. (Photos by 1st Lt. Ryan Finnegan)

Lots of good training to be had during April IDT!

Soldiers of the 143rd Military Police Detachment conducted training on traffic accident investigation and response in Livingston, Mont. Apr. 2. Volunteers from the community received moulage to simulate realistic injuries for the Soldiers to assess and treat. The 320 Guest Ranch was presented with the Patriod Award for going above and beyond. SPC Daniet Morgan, a chef at the ranch, requested ESGR to present his employer with this award at their 6th Annual Ski Joring event in front of the crowd. The pictures show SFC Simanton pinning the GM John Richardson and Jeff Lambert presenting the award for ESGR.
