June 19, 1865: Juneteenth marks the day when enslaved African Americans in Texas finally learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Today, we commemorate Juneteenth as a powerful reminder of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing journey toward equality. It’s a time to reflect, honor Black history and culture, and continue working toward a more just future for everyone.

Please join the DTC this Saturday, June 6th at 2pm for the Town of Billerica, MA Pride Flag raising in front of the Billerica Public Library. After the ceremony, please join our friends at the First Parish Billerica, Unitarian Universalist Church for a light reception.
