Northern Adams Regional Emergency Management Agency NAREMA is the organization formed by inter-municipal agreement to prepare and protect the citizens of participating municipalities.

The Vision of the Northern Adams Regional Emergency Management Agency is to educate the citizens, businesses, and organizations of the municipalities regarding their roles in preparing for emergencies.

VOLUNTEER EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY DIRECTOR NEEDED

The Northern Adams Regional Emergence Management Agency is seeking to fill the Emergency Management Agency Volunteer Director Position:

The Emergency Management Coordinator is responsible for the overall emergency management program for the Northern Adams Regional.  Additional responsibilities include activating and managing the Emergency Operation Center. The Emergency Management Coordinator coordinates disaster response or crisis management activities, provides disaster preparedness training and prepares emergency plans and produces for natural (e.g. Hurricanes, Floods, Earthquakes), wartime, or technological (e.g. nuclear power plant emergency, hazardous materials spills) disasters and hostage situations.

Candidate would need to have completed the Basic and Advanced Certification according to PEMA. The Northwest Region includes, Franklin, Butler, Menallen, Tyrone Townships and Biglerville Borough.

* At 625 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Big Spring State Park to near Roxbury to near Upper Strasburg to Marion to 8 miles east of Hancock, moving northeast at 50 mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect localized considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until midnight EDT for south central and central Pennsylvania.

Intense thunderstorm lines can produce brief tornadoes and widespread significant wind damage. Although a tornado is not immediately likely, it is best to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. These storms may cause serious injury and significant property damage.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* A portion of central Pennsylvania, including the following
areas, Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton,
Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, Schuylkill, and York.

* From 2 PM EDT this afternoon through late tonight

* Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms capable of
producing very heavy rain are likely. Intense rain rates may
result in localized rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches in a short
time, which could result in flash flooding.
