Students and faculty have opportunities to create multiple projects, engage in leadership activities, and understand their environment and community through a more contextual approach to learning. We pride ourselves in a safe and nurturing environment that fosters a professional atmosphere. Each of our pathway-based programs simulates a work-based learning environment and promotes a sense of responsibility and awareness of connection between what one can accomplish today and what is possible for one's future.

Congratulations to two of our Diesel Tech students for their outstanding perfect attendance this year!

Students had the opportunity to earn tools through excellent attendance, helping them build both their skills and their toolboxes for the future. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

A special shoutout goes to these two students who achieved perfect attendance and did not miss a single day all year! Their commitment, work ethic, and perseverance truly paid off.

The Agriscience Program at the MOCC has been hard at work planting grape vines for their new table grape vineyard! ๐Ÿ‡๐ŸŒฑ

Each class session is responsible for caring for and planting two different grape varieties, giving students hands-on experience in vineyard management and crop production. Students also staked the vines to help train them to grow up the posts and prepare for healthy growth.

Next up: building the trellis system that will support the vineyard as the vines continue to grow and develop. Weโ€™re excited to watch this project take shape and see all the learning opportunities it brings for our students!

Our Automotive Technologies students, AJ Hamilton of Tri County and Preston Cushman of Evart, had an outstanding performance, earning 2nd place overall as a team. AJ had an impressive day, taking 1st place in General Automotive, 2nd place in Steering, Suspension & Brakes, and 3rd place in Electrical. Preston also earned a 3rd place finish in Steering, Suspension & Brakes. Great work representing MOCC and your schools!

Our Manufacturing Technology program also had an incredible showing at the Ferris State University Machining and Robotics Competition, competing against students from across the state. Two students earned โ€œTop Dawgโ€ honors by placing in the top three of their categories. Maverick Hall won the Robotics Programming Competition, while Zander Howe earned top honors in the Manual Lathe Competition. Both students received impressive prizes from industry partners as well as scholarships to Ferris State University.

Our Welding Program was represented by five talented students, with Michael Monahan earning an outstanding 2nd place finish in the competition.

Congratulations to our Public Safety & Protective Services students!

This past Friday, May 5th, 36 of our Public Safety & Protective Services students earned their Teen Mental Health First Aid certification through Michigan State University Extension and the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

Through this training, students gained valuable skills to recognize, understand, and respond to signs of mental health challenges among their peers.

We are proud of their commitment to supporting others, building awareness, and creating a stronger, more compassionate community.

Recently, our welding program submitted an application video showcasing our studentsโ€™ passion, skills, and dedication to the trades โ€” and it paid off in a BIG way! The program received a complete classroom transformation valued at $15,000, including upgraded DEWALT hand tools, power tools, storage solutions, and more.

This incredible opportunity will help to continue providing students with hands-on experience using industry-quality equipment as they prepare for future careers in the skilled trades.

We want to give a big thank you to Isabelle Dukes, Welding Para, for her creativity, and dedication she poured into creating and submitting the winning video application. Your passion for supporting our students and belief in the skilled trades truly shined through in this project. Because of your hard work and commitment, our students now have access to incredible new tools and opportunities that will positively impact their learning for years to come.
