114 years of stories, to be exact 🚂

Originally completed in 1912 as part of the Overseas Railroad, the Old Bahia Honda Bridge has become one of the Florida Keys' most iconic landmarks!

Today, visitors can follow the scenic trail to the bridge and experience a piece of Florida Keys history firsthand, all while taking in incredible views of the turquoise waters and Bahia Honda State Park below 🌊

With October bringing a little relief from the summer heat, there's no better time to take the scenic route and explore this historic landmark!

One bridge, a century of history 🚂

Long before it became an iconic sight in the Florida Keys, the Bahia Honda Bridge was a vital link between the islands and the mainland!

As part of Henry Flagler’s Overseas Railroad, the 5,055-foot bridge was completed in January 1912. After the railroad was devastated by the Labor Day Hurricane (1935), the bridge was repurposed for the Overseas Highway, carrying travelers above the turquoise waters 🌊🚘🛤️

Today, the remaining spans stand as a beautiful reminder of the vision, ingenuity, and history that helped connect the Florida Keys — and its just one of the many reasons to make Bahia Honda part of your next Keys adventure! 🏝️
