Today, a hero’s name returns to sea.

USCGC Jeffrey Palazzo (WPC 1163) is being commissioned today in New York City, honoring Machinery Technician 1st Class Jeffrey Palazzo, a Coast Guard reservist and FDNY Rescue 5 firefighter who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

Palazzo spent eight years on active duty in the Coast Guard before continuing his service in the Reserve while serving with the FDNY. 25 years after 9/11, his legacy takes on a new watch.

Following commissioning, the 63rd Fast Response Cutter will head to its homeport in Guam, carrying Jeffrey Palazzo’s name and spirit of service across the Pacific.

A Coastie. A firefighter. A hero.

Fair winds and following seas to the crew of USCGC Jeffrey Palazzo. May you carry his name with pride. 🇺🇸⚓
