Late this morning, Reagan County Fire & EMS responded to a vehicle fire involving a 4-door pickup truck with flames heavily involving the engine compartment and cab area.

We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone who stepped up to help before crews arrived on scene.

A special shoutout to the two Good Samaritans who jumped into action with large fire extinguishers and worked to slow the fire down. Also, thank you to Austin with Cary Services, who stopped and used his pressure washer to help keep the flames under control until emergency personnel arrived. Your quick actions truly made a difference.

We’d also like to recognize State Park Police Officer Chavez, who came upon the scene first and immediately assisted the occupants and helped manage the situation until additional responders arrived.

And as always, a sincere thank you to the Reagan County Sheriff’s Office and DPS for their continued support and teamwork on scenes like these. We are grateful for the strong partnerships and community support we have here in Reagan County.

Great job by everyone involved, and most importantly, we are thankful everyone made it out safely.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month đź’š

Behind every siren is a human being.

First responders are trained to stay calm in chaos, to run toward danger, and to carry the weight of other people’s worst days. But the things we see, hear, and experience don’t just disappear when the call ends.

Too many firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, and law enforcement officers suffer in silence because they feel they have to “stay strong.”

At Reagan County Fire & EMS, we want every first responder to hear this:

You do not have to fight your battles alone.

It is okay to not be okay.
It is okay to talk about what you’re carrying.
It is okay to ask for help.

Reach out to someone you trust. Make the call. Start the conversation. And if someone reaches out to you, be willing to listen. Sometimes one honest conversation can make all the difference.

Strength is not pretending nothing affects you. Strength is having the courage to speak up before the weight becomes too heavy.

Check on your people. Listen without judgment. Support one another. A conversation can save a life.

To every first responder struggling quietly — you are valued, you are needed, and you are never alone.

Your dedication both on and off duty inspires us every day, and we are grateful for the example you set for our team and our community.

From all of us at Reagan County Fire & EMS, we wish every mom a safe, blessed, and Happy Mother’s Day! ❤️🚒🚑

Today we celebrate International Firefighters’ Day.

A day to recognize the men and women who show up—no matter the call, no matter the hour, no matter the risk.

From structure fires to medical calls, from the quiet moments at the station to the chaos of an active scene—this job demands strength, sacrifice, and heart.

To all firefighters and EMS personnel, especially our own at Reagan County Fire & EMS—thank you for your courage, your commitment, and your service to our community.

We see you. We appreciate you. And we are grateful for all that you do.
