There comes a day in this job when you watch someone you’ve worked beside for years make a decision that will better themselves, their family, their department, and the entire community around them. Those moments are bittersweet — because while you couldn’t be any prouder, you also know it means you’ll be losing them from your ranks.
Today, the Big Flats Fire Company wants to recognize and thank FF/EMT Tim Overly for his time, dedication, and unwavering commitment to our department and the community we proudly serve.
Tim has been more than just a firefighter and EMT to our organization. He has been a mentor, a leader, an instructor, and a friend to so many within our ranks. His passion for the fire service and his commitment to training, professionalism, and service has helped shape our department and the firefighters who stand beside him.
While it is never easy to see someone like Tim move on from our company, we know that this next step is one that will allow him to continue making an even greater impact.
We are incredibly proud to congratulate Tim as he begins his new role as the next Elmira City Fire Chief. The City of Elmira is gaining a dedicated leader who truly understands what it means to serve.
