Approximately 6:00 last night we received a page out to assist Palmetto fire department on a fire in the woods. Along with Port Barry Fire Department!
It took approximately almost 3 hours to extinguish completely!!

Please we very much encourage no burning there is a burn ban in effect!!
For St Landry Parish!!

🔥 REMINDER - BURN BAN STILL IN EFFECT 🔥

Reminder, a parishwide burn ban has been in effect since February 13, 2026 and will remain in place until further notice due to dry conditions and increased fire risk.

- No outdoor burning or activities involving open flames that produce embers
- Violations may result in fines up to $500

St@. Landry Parish Government continues to monitor conditions closely in coordination with the National Weather Service and will provide updates as conditions change.
