Sam Pecor for Biddeford City Council - Ward 7

Sam Pecor for Biddeford City Council - Ward 7 Ward 7 deserves basics done right - sidewalks, streets, sewers - plus smart housing policy and honest budgets. I’ll show the work and report results.

I'm a Ward 7 neighbor who works in housing, tinkers in policy, and loves his community. We shouldn’t have to choose between affordability and progress. I’ll champion predictable maintenance, reliable sidewalks/streets/sewers, and practical housing policy to keep taxes stable and neighbors in Biddeford.

This has been a hard year for me, as I’m sure it has been for many of you. Finding myself in an empty home in the middle of my first election was just not something I had envisioned for this year.

I could have easily retreated into some pretty dark places and in years past I probably would have. I’d have dropped everything and turned away.

BUT - this year, I met many of you. I found a love of community which has always been lacking in my life. I’ve made fast friends with people who share that love of community. I’ve listened as many of you shared your own struggles with me, allowing yourselves to be vulnerable to a stranger.

Words can’t express how thankful I am to so many of you. You’ve touched my life more than you know.

I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. If you are feeling alone, or are in a dark place, drop me a message.

An overdue post Election Day update ft. two tired dudes.

It has been an absolutely humbling, fulfilling, and eye opening experience running for City Council to represent my neighbors here in Ward 7.

To the 375 people who trusted me to represent you, I want you to know I'm not going anywhere and will continue to advocate for you in City Hall - just not as your councilor.

Brad Cote will hear you and work to serve you faithfully and honestly, and I couldn't have asked for a better opponent in this years election.

Thank you to all the support, advice, drinks, and emotional support from all those who cheered me on.

Civics and community all in one day! A reminder that this Tuesday, November 4th is Election Day!

Please consider bringing a few items on the list or other nonperishables with you when you vote this year. If you have already voted, we’d still love to see you in person!

It has been incredible to see so many candidates for office work together with their opponents to promote this event for the benefit of our neighbors in need, of which there are many.

The lapsing of SNAP funding will effect people you'd never imagine need this assistance. Around 12.5% of Mainers will be effected, possibly amounting to 2,750 people here in Biddeford alone, men, women, and children.

To make matters worse, LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) funding is locked up - just as the barometer plummets to near freezing.

For those with the resources, please consider donating food or funds to food pantries.

For those with time, please consider donating your time and volunteering to help food pantries.

They will be under incredible strain over the coming weeks if the Federal Shutdown is not resolved.

I am thrilled to have the support of such thoughtful and dedicated people like Kathy & Ken. Read their full letter of support below:

"Dear Editor, We are writing in support of Sam Pecor for City Councilor of Ward 7.

While both candidates are good people, we have decided to support Sam because of his advocacy for many issues we care about, such as concrete solutions for sustainable housing, fighting climate change, advocating for better communication with constituents, and asking for more accountability in our local government, among other issues.

Sam has been an energetic and enthusiastic campaigner, going door to door throughout Ward 7, and holding weekly “open-porch sessions” on Wednesdays to listen to the citizens of the Ward, and find out what they care about, and what they want and need from their City Council.

Often we hear older folks (like us!) proclaim that it is time for the “younger generation” to step up and work to make things better. Sam and others running in this election are admirable representatives of that younger generation, ready to do the job, and enthusiastic and hopeful about supporting and working for positive change in the City of Biddeford. Now is the time to get behind them.

Thank you.

Kathy and Ken Griffin, Ward 7"

It was great to have Biddeford represented at this year's Maine Real Estate & Development Association (MEREDA) Fall Conference.

As one of the top issues facing Biddeford, the challenges around housing affordability were front of mind for me while listening to experts in their fields share their experience in overcoming common roadblocks from planning to infrastructure.

One thing is clear: we need strong municipal leadership to connect Biddeford with real solutions that produce more homes across the housing spectrum. I’m running to provide exactly that - focused, accountable leadership that gets homes built faster. On November 4, I’m asking for your vote.

Sam Pecor and I were among many attendees at today's MEREDA Fall Conference on the Housing Crisis. It was very enlightening and informative.
