BHPD recently partnered with PipeDown Solutions for loud exhaust enforcement training, bringing the program to Southern California for the first time. After classroom instruction and hands-on testing, our motor officers put the training into action out in the field, stopping and citing vehicles with unlawful exhaust noise, including several high-end and exotic cars commonly seen throughout the City.

And yes, people definitely noticed. As the testing equipment was being set up, we had several community members stop and ask what was going on. Once they heard it was loud exhaust enforcement, the reactions were pretty consistent: “Finally” and “About time.” Safe to say this was one operation a lot of people were happy to see.

Last week was National Police Week and members of our Honor Guard traveled to both the California State Capitol and Washington, D.C. to stand alongside agencies from across the country in honoring the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Back home, our department took part in the “320 Miles of Honor” Unity Challenge in support of the Police Unity Tour, bringing personnel together to walk, run, and ride in remembrance of the fallen and the loved ones they left behind. By the end of the week, we proudly completed 334.25 miles, surpassing our original goal of 320 miles.

We also want to take a moment to thank the community members who took the time to remember us throughout the week by generously donating lunches and dinners to our staff. Your support and kindness never go unnoticed.

Today, May 4, we recognize International Firefighters’ Day. It’s a moment to honor the firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice and to show appreciation for the men and women who continue to put others first every single day.

We are grateful for our brothers and sisters in red at and the courage and commitment they bring to this community.

Here’s a real testimonial from one of our recent DUI arrestees about their recent trip to Rodeo Drive. ☺️

Back story: An officer observed a vehicle committing multiple CVC violations, including driving with a passenger on the hood. Following an investigation, the driver was arrested for DUI and reckless driving.

If your Rodeo Drive plans involve making TikToks like this… you might want to rethink it.

Please join us in congratulating one of our patrol officers on receiving the William H. Spurgeon III Award from the Western Los Angeles County Council, Scouting of America. This award represents the highest level of recognition for leadership and commitment to the Explorer Program.

Her path into law enforcement started as a Police Explorer with the Montebello Police Department, followed by her time as a BHPD Cadet in 2019, and ultimately being sworn in as a Police Officer in 2023. She has remained committed to the program every step of the way, leading physical training sessions, creating study guides, taking Explorers on ride-alongs, and mentoring them through real-world experience and guidance.

This recognition speaks to the impact she continues to make on the next generation of law enforcement. The time, dedication, and leadership she brings to this program do not go unnoticed. Well deserved. 👏👏👏

K-9 Tau, a retired Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, after a life defined by service, loyalty, and heart.

Over a remarkable 10-year career with the Beverly Hills Police Department, Tau completed more than 4,000 hours of training and was deployed 260 times. His work included 65 suspect searches, the apprehension of 27 suspects, and the recovery of three discarded fi****ms. Tau was a steadfast protector in the field and an invaluable partner to those he served alongside.

In retirement, Tau enjoyed a well-earned life of comfort, from daily walks to quiet moments at home, and even made a special appearance on our Instagram during an interview with the podcast. His remarkable sense of smell never faded, always finding something along the way. More than a K-9, Tau was a loyal companion, a trusted partner, and a true member of the BHPD family. His service, dedication, and spirit will not be forgotten.
