Gloria Steinem was a social activist and feminist icon who spent decades advocating for civil rights and equality. As a trailblazing journalist in the 1960s and 1970s, her work brought national attention to critical issues including gender-based workplace discrimination and abortion rights.

Gloria Steinem helped found Ms. magazine, one of the first feminist magazines in the nation, and served on the advisory committee for the ACLU Women's Rights Project. Ms. Steinem dedicated her life to fighting for equality for women, people of color, and the LGBTQ community. Her decades of activism and writing changed countless lives and helped drive transformative change in the women’s liberation movement.
