Betsy Layne Fire Protection District Was originally founded as Betsy Layne Men's Club in 1947 by a group led by Earl Hays. In 1983, was incorporated into Betsy Layne Fire Protection District.

Call # 2026-130...Friday, September 4th...12:00 noon...Betsy Layne firefighters are currently en route to a two-vehicle injury accident with three patients on KY RT 680 near the Harold railroad tracks.

Call # 2026-129...Thursday, September 3rd...9:40pm...our firefighters were dispatched to a single-vehicle injury accident on KY RT 2030 in the Frog Branch curve in the Honaker community. Upon arrival, it was determined that a vehicle had exited the roadway, overturned in the steep curve, and the occupant(s) was already out of the vehicle. There were no life-threatening injuries which were reported to us. Units remained on scene until approximately 11:09pm to assist with traffic control until the vehicle could be removed from the scene.

Call # 2026-128…Wednesday, September 2nd…1428 hours…Floyd Co ECC dispatched the fire department to a commercial fire alarm at Harold ARH Clinic. It was later determined to not be an actual emergency as maintenance was repairing their system. All units returned to the station.

Call # 2026-127...Wednesday, September 2nd...0651am...Betsy Layne firefighters were notified of a two-vehicle non-injury accident on U.S. Highway 23 South at the Betsy Layne traffic lights in front of the Betsy Layne Post Office. Engine 1 responded and units assisted with traffic control. Betsy Layne Fire units cleared the scene at 0731 hours.

Call # 2026-126...Tuesday, September 1st, 8:32am...Betsy Layne firefighters were dispatched to a fire alarm activation at George Road at Betsy Layne. Upon arrival, it was determined that there had been a grease fire in a skillet in the kitchen but the fire had been extinguished upon arrival and everything was okay. Betsy Layne Fire units cleared the scene at 8:40am.

Call # 2026-125...Monday, August 31st, 3:39pm...Betsy Layne firefighters were dispatched to a two-vehicle non-injury collision between Hot Rod's Pizza and Coldwater Branch on U.S. Highway 23 South. The vehicles had collided due to the backed-up traffic from the previous accident at the Harold intersection. There were no life-threatening injuries due to the accident and Betsy Layne Fire units cleared the scene at 4:41pm.

Call # 2026-124...Monday, August 31st, 2:38pm...while on scene of the vehicle accident at Harold, Betsy Layne firefighters were dispatched to a landing zone at Floyd 26 on Ky 680 due to the accident. It was later determined by the ground EMS crew that the flight would be canceled due to the non-severity of the injuries. Betsy Layne Fire units cleared the scene at 3:50pm.

Call # 2026-123...Monday, August 31st, 2:24pm...Betsy Layne firefighters were dispatched to a two-vehicle injury collision at the intersection of U.S. Highway 23 and Ky Rt. 680 near the Harold Double Kwik. There were no life-threatening injuries due to the accident and Betsy Layne Fire units cleared the scene at 3:38pm.

Call 2026-122. August 28th @ 0357 hours. Our department was notified of a fire alarm activation at HT Hackney Wholesale at Harold. Prior to arriving on scene, a key holder advised it was an accidental activation. All units could disregard.

Call 2026-121 on August 21st @ 1630 hours…Betsy Layne firefighters were dispatched by central per request of Lifeguard Ambulance to LZ26 on 979 at Harold regarding a direct call they had received.

Responded to the scene (two apparatuses and two command vehicles with a total of seven personnel), monitored a safe landing from Heart Aeromedical, while the ground EMS unit was still on scene at the residence assessing the patient.

After a time, the ground crew canceled the chopper and BLFD units returned to the fire station. Call was closed @ 1746 hours.
