Naval Support Activity Bethesda NSA Bethesda is responsible for base operational support for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and more than 40 tenant commands and activities.

Naval Support Activity Bethesda hosts Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, serving our Warriors (past and present), their families and our nation’s leaders. The installation is also home to Uniformed Services University; Navy Medical Leader and Professional Development Command; Soldier Recovery Brigade NCR; Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command; and several other key tenant command

s that provide research, training and support to our base population. NSA Bethesda provides a dynamic environment where training and efforts to improve support to our nation's military and their families occurs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

05SEP26: GATE OPS - CLOSURE: Naval Support Activity Bethesda Gate 1 is closed effective 5:30 p.m. today and will remain closed until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8. From 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Gate 1 will support outbound traffic only.

The Visitor Control Center will remain open during normal operating hours, and pedestrians may continue to access the gate and sidewalks.

Gate 2 will open at 5:30 p.m. today for inbound and outbound vehicle and pedestrian traffic. It is scheduled to remain open 24 hours a day through Friday, Sept. 11, with its normal closing schedule resuming afterward.

This change will impact traffic getting onto the base via MD 355 (Wisconsin Ave/Rockville Pike) including from 495 and points north. Please plan your travel accordingly. Updates will be shared as available via NSAB Traffic Alerts and Facebook.
