Bethel Fire & EMS We are the proud men and women of the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department, providing fire, rescue, and EMS services to the town of Bethel, CT since 1831!

Located near historic downtown Bethel on South Street, we are one of two volunteer fire departments providing emergency services throughout town. Along with responding alongside Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Department (Bethel's other fire company), we provide mutual aid services to surrounding towns of Western Connecticut. 25 years ago, first responders ran toward danger. Today, we ask you to step forward.
In honor of the 25th anniversary of September 11, Bethel Fire Department is proud to partner with the American Red Cross to host a community blood drive.
On a day when we remember sacrifice, courage, and unity, our members have already rolled up their sleeves and taken the “needle poke” for a cause bigger than ourselves.
This is how we honor them. This is how we serve now.
One donation takes less than an hour and can save up to 3 lives — neighbors, friends, and family right here in Connecticut.

🇺🇸 Proud to serve. Honored to remember.
Bethel Fire & EMS and Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company proudly displayed one of the biggest flags we could find in support of the CT United Ride as it passed through Bethel again this year.
25 years after 9/11, we stand together to honor the 2,977 lives lost and the first responders who ran toward danger. Thank you to every member of our departments, Bethel Police, and every neighbor who came out to show their patriotism today.

Kinda chic (are we doing this right?) when both of our ambulances meet up at the hospital at 2:30AM after helping some folks reach definitive medical care.

Even more chic? Both ambulances were staffed by our volunteers (4 volunteers between the two crews).

EVEN MORE CHIC? The paramedic on one of the calls volunteers with us as an EMT when not at work.

This is the stuff that makes us proud and we hope you feel it too.

Today the members of The Bethel Fire Department are with a heavy heart as our neighboring brothers and sisters at the West Redding Fire Department mourn the loss of one of their own, Cooper Whiteside. Cooper and his girlfriend tragically lost their lives in an accident this morning in Danbury. A volunteer firefighter with West Redding (and formerly of Brookfield), as well as a police officer with Bridgeport PD, Cooper was among the extraordinary few who dedicated their lives to public service. Most recently in Bethel you may have seen Cooper and his team with the West Redding ATV watching over runners at the last few Firecracker Road races.

The Bethel Fire Department offers its sincerest condolences to the Redding fire departments and those family and friends who will dearly miss him.

Behold, the traffic barricade (often accompanied by orange cones and yellow tape). Do you know what these are?

Let’s begin with what they ARE NOT:
•Not a hurdle
•Not a slalom flag
•Not a target
•Not a joke
•Not optional

These little guys are set up usually to protect YOU and sometimes first responders/construction workers/line workers/etc because of a hazard you can’t see. Those hazards could be trees across the road, hazardous wire conditions, flood waters, or something else.

So when you see these barricades, STOP and do not bypass them. We don’t like road closures any more than you do, but we really don’t like what happens when people bypass them and suddenly are in a dangerous situation.

No delivery is worth it. No commute to work is worth it. No risk to your health and safety is worth it.

So please share this image and this message with your partner, your parents, your teen drivers, your neighbors, your employees and everyone else you know driving around town.

THAT. WAS. SO. MUCH. FUN!

Our first ever Pop-Up Splash Park was a success, and we want to thank everyone that stopped by to cool off from our sprinklers, spray the targets with our hose, brigade some buckets, splash at the toddler table, and just hang out a little on a sunny summer day!

The mission was to offer a means to cool off. But we also wanted to do so sustainably, using salvaged garden hoses and limiting water spray to be mindful of the drought we're also in.

Thank you to Town of Bethel - CT, especially the Water Department and Bethel Parks and Rec for coordinating with Bethel Fire & EMS to bring our idea to life.

We hope to do this again when the weather is right and our members can donate the time. Until then, stay cool, and let's be safe this 4th of July Weekend!

Today, 2:30 on the Municipal Center Lawn! This won't be the scale of a proper splash pad, but hopefully we can offer a fun way to cool off, find some shade, hang by a fan, and run through some sprinklers!

We also think 20 families using our sprinklers is a better way to save water instead of 20 households all running their own... so come be water conscious with us and have some fun!

The gazebo will have chairs and a fan set up to find some shade as well... we might even find a way to put the Spain-Austria world cup match on for those who want to watch!

BEAT THE HEAT WITH A POP-UP SPLASH PAD

The thermometer is forecast to soar this week, so we're going to try something new and exciting... a pop-up splash pad!

We're going to set up some sprinklers, misters, and fun firefighter water games to help beat the heat, all on the municipal center lawn!

WHEN: Thursday, July 2nd from 2:30-5PM
WHERE: Municipal Center Lawn

This experiment in pop-up water play is brought to you by Bethel Fire & EMS in partnership with Town of Bethel - CT

Remember to dress appropriately for water play, wear sunscreen, hydrate, and bring a towel. Children must be accompanied by adults.
