This little one came to what she called her “first day of library school,” (Tales for Tots) complete with a special first day outfit, backpack (to take home books of course), and plenty of pictures!

During the month of August:
• 9,939 visitors to the library (average of 382 visitors per operating day)
• 21,418 physical items borrowed
• 9,939 electronic items borrowed (eBook, eAudio, eVideo, eMagazine)
• If these items were purchased by patrons the cost would be $775,164 for the month of August based on retail cost of $26 per hardback book (Average cost of picture book is $18; audiobook $25; eBook $40; eAudio $75).
• The Library hosted 59 onsite and 27 outreach programs for youth and adults with 1,314 attendees.

Happy Grandparents Day!

We are still registering students in kindergarten-5th grade for our new Letters to Neighbors program.

Children will correspond with Lifespan members from the Bethel Park Community Center.

We are very excited to launch this program on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Sign up online or call the Library at 412-835-2207 ext 267.

If your child is interested but not able to attend Monday’s meeting, still register and let us know, and you can pick up the activity for them to do on their own time. Simply return it by the end of the week so we can get it our friends at the Community Center.

Families had a wonderful time creating Barn Owls together by learning how to create marbled paper for a beautiful take-home art project at our first Brushes Before Bedtime program. We love how each marbled pattern turned out differently!

September is Love Your Library month.

Thanks to the generosity of the Jack Buncher Foundation, all participating Allegheny County libraries will receive a pro-rated portion of a $200,000 match pool to support their general operations. Special thanks to NiSource Charitable Foundation and Columbia Gas for their additional match pool contribution.

All donations received during September 2026, up to a maximum of $500 per donor per library, will count toward the match pool.
