We want to take a couple of minutes to recognize the importance of emergency services to all communities.
On Sunday March 15, 2026 around 5pm Bethany Ambulance was dispatched to a rural address for a 3 year old child in cardiac arrest and CPR in progress. Bethany Ambulance was out of the bay in less than 1 minute and on scene in 4 minutes with Paramedics on the call. Care of the child was taken by the crew and urgently transported to a Decatur hospital. The crew provided PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) on the way to the hospital and achieved ROSC (return of spontaneous circulation) prior to arriving at the hospital. On arrival to the hospital, the child had a strong pulse and care was transferred to the receiving facility and then shortly transferred to a regional speciality center.
We want to recognize the following members in this crucial service to our community that day:
Driver: FF/EMR Terry Peters
Paramedic: Michael Jennings
Paramedic: Curt Robinson
Paramedic Student/EMT: Markus Deel
Dispatch: Coles-Moultrie 9-1-1
This is a testament to the change in operations that Bethany has done. On October 15, 2025, the Board of Trustees determined that due to the call volume and necessity to have ambulance services in the district and rural community was a must. The Board hired a 3rd Full-Time person and the District is covered 24/7 with a 24 on and 48 off schedule. This model has shown to be successful and we are grateful that we were able to provide 24/7 coverage to our taxpayers.
We ask for respect and privacy for the family of the call as the child is still healing.
