The Bethalto Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying the pictured subject. Or if you know someone who wears the same kind of jacket/hooded sweatshirt. We would also ask the residents around the Metro Apartments to check their surveillance cameras from a few nights ago to see if this individual was on or near your property. If you have any information please call us and speak with an officer.

The Bethalto Police Department sends our condolences to the family of Jack Stalcup and our Brothers and Sisters at the East Alton Police Department, the South Roxana Police Department, and the Hartford Police Department.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of one of our own; Officer Jack Stalcup. Officer Stalcup worked in law enforcement for over four decades at the South Roxana Police Department, Hartford Police Department and coming to East Alton in 2018. Officer Stalcup worked part time for the East Alton Police Department in many capacities with some being patrol, investigations, and our lead evidence Officer. Officer Stalcup not only served at the police department but he was a dedicated public servant and worked at our Park and Recreation Department coordinating youth sports and volunteering at numerous Village sponsored events. His sudden passing will be felt deeply by all who knew him.

This is a message to the three females who broke in to the Christmas donation boxes in the park on December 8th at 5:19PM. You were on video, and it would be better for you to come to us than the other way around.

Recently the Police Department has taken multiple calls of Coyote sightings, especially on the northeast side of town. Please know, these animals are considered wild and are more prevalent than most would think. Our Animal Control Officer does not set traps for Coyotes. Trapping a Coyote is regulated through Illinois Department of Natural Resources which requires a permit. For more information see the attached link. https://wildlifeillinois.org/identify-wildlife/coyote/

Chief Lamb
