Summer Safety Reminder for Parents & Students
As the 2025-2026 School year comes to an end and summer break begins, the Gogebic County Sheriff's Office encourages everyone to make safety a priority while enjoying the season. Here are a few tips for a safe and fun summer.
Parents:
*Know where your children are and who they are with.
**Set clear expectations for curfews and check-ins.
***Talk with your children about internet safety, peer pressure, and making responsible choices.
****Ensure younger children are supervised around water, roads, and recreational activities.
Students:
*Always wear a helmet when riding bikes, ATVs, or other recreational vehicles. (Remember to carry your ORV license and never ride un-supervised).
**Never swim alone and follow water safety rules.
***Stay aware of your surroundings and trust your instincts.
****Be responsible on social media and avoid sharing your location with strangers. (Limit your screen time and enjoy the outdoors).
*****If you see something suspicious or unsafe, tell a trusted adult or contact law enforcement.
Summer is a time to have fun, make memories, and stay safe. Working together, we can help ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable break.
Have a great summer and stay safe, Gogebic County! 🚔☀️🏖️
