He saw gridiron glory playing for coach Bear Bryant at Alabama. But when drugs took over his life, Victor Smith knew he needed help... and needed to help himself. Counseling saved Victor. And became his calling. Victor now coaches people reentering society from prison. “Sure, I have empathy. But sometimes it takes tough love to find the daylight,” Victor says.

Victor works alongside a fast-growing group of program directors who run ReentryCenters.com’s homes throughout Alabama, each of which houses between 10 and 60. Program directors, Victor notes, have to know what it’s like on the inside, to show people what it takes to succeed on the outside.

Brent Parris served 19 years. Now he is a ReentryCenters graduate who recruits partners and second-chance employers. In prison, he says, empathy is dangerous. He likes the ReentryCenters program director mantra: Do not mistake our kindness for weakness. “Being reentry-ready means being work-ready,” he says. “We get reentrants good jobs at auto plants and elsewhere, they reside at our homes, and get an online bank and good coaching. We force people to be responsible. That’s why very few go back to jail and we cost taxpayers nothing. We’re kind but tough.”

Tabitha Dickey is a program director at one of the ReentryCenters homes for women in Bessemer, Alabama. “My job is to help you stay responsible and ready to work,” she says. “I know what these people are going through because I’ve been through it myself. Nobody will ever mistake my kindness for weakness.”

Here at , we believe that those formerly incarcerated should be able to have an opportunity at correcting their past. Where they can envision a future in which they are a part of a system that’s cares for them & provides the necessary resources that will help them build a better tomorrow. Our Founder Scott Frye has been creating a difference in the Reentry Industry with us since our inception in 2019.
Scott’s vision isn’t just a Band-Aid on the unconstitutional corrections facilities in Alabama, but rather a cure to the overcrowding crisis in the state run prisons as well as a solution to cutting by getting those deserving justice out & keeping them in a supporting community that keeps them out.
We want to take care of the problem by providing…

Even after the demonstration last week of the Alabama prison work strike we continue to see injustices being committed upon those incarcerated. We need a solution to the overcrowded & understaffed prisons which have been enabling these inhumane conditions. At Reentry Centers our goal is to be the difference. Since 2019, we have cut Recidivism by over 60%! However, we cannot help those in need without a fair hearing for parole.

Since Sept. 27, at least eight incarcerated men have died in Alabama prisons, according to statements from ADOC and the Jefferson County coroner.

Since Sept. 26, corrections facilities all across the state of Alabama have been experiencing work stoppages by inmates as a part of a demonstration to protest the inhumane conditions inside the overcrowded & understaffed prisons and they are calling for reforms to Alabama’s parole & sentencing laws. With the state of Alabama’s prison systems being currently 180% over capacity the United States Department of Justice has alleged that conditions violate the constitutional rights of those incarcerated. As a form of retaliation, we have seen the corrections facilities reduce food service from three full meals a day to two horrible pieces of food a day while also not allowing any visitation rights to any of the inmates. Prisoners must be at least given the opportunity to make an effort to rehabilitate themselves into productive members of society, but if our correctional facilities treat them as less than human beings & enable criminal activities within these penitentiaries, then we are only hardening our criminals to become worse and worse. Reentry Programs offer a chance at redemption.
At ReentryCenters.com, We are building a social enterprise to help former felons thrive and contribute to society in meaningful ways. Revolutionizing the criminal justice system and cutting recidivism at the same time at $0 cost to taxpayers, we provide the resources that newly released prisoners need to properly & safely integrate within the community. This is an opportunity for communities to redefine themselves, with more economically empowered individuals and families. However, this process of reentering back into the community in a positive way cannot begin until inmates, who are stuck in prisons due to the heavily biased and restrictive parole process, receive their fair shot at parole.

Since Monday, Sept 26th, we have seen the continuous efforts from both inmates and supporters outside the corrections facility protesting the horrendous prison conditions across the state of Alabama.

The exact size of the protest, which began on Monday, was not immediately clear. But advocates say thousands of inmates would forgo their usual jobs as cooks and cleaners.

Since 2019, ReentryCenters.com has cut recidivism among its participants by over 60%, at zero cost to taxpayers. But former prisoners don't get a second chance at reentry if they're stuck inside, held there by an artificially-restrictive parole process.

Only when prisoners are paroled can reentry programs do their magic.

This week's highly unusual Alabama inmate strike is yet another reminder of the state's prison emergency. In 2020, the US Department of Justice sued Alabama for its "deliberately indifferent" and cruel attitude toward inhumane and dangerous prison overcrowding.

Fast forward to today, where Alabama prisons reduce daily meals to only 2x a day and completely take away visitation rights from inmates. The crisis has gotten completely out of hand, not in small part due to the Alabama parole board's brutal post-2018 tightening of parole and probation approvals, slowing prison releases to trickle. Reentry programs for former felons can perform miracles of redemption.
