Promise Kept: Bessemer's finances are strong, city debts are current, and the city's revenues have been grown by $30 million. This strong fiscal position has allowed Bessemer to purchase equipment so employees can deliver vital city services to you the taxpayers; provide cost-of-living increases so employees can provide for their families; and invest in upgrades to the quality of life in Bessemer, such as improvements in city parks and matching grants to pave city streets. Candidate Kenneth Gulley made a promise in 2010 to work to clean up Bessemer's streets. As Mayor, Kenneth Gulley has done just that by purchasing new equipment such as trash and garbage trucks to keep street crews working; demolishing unsightly structures in our neighborhoods; building new sidewalks for our students to use near our elementary schools and by becoming the first municipality in Bessemer to create crews dedicated to addressing litter. Mayor Gulley promised back in 2010 to work with federal and state officials to secure funding to improve streets and infrastructure in Bessemer. Since 2010, more than $20 million in grant funding has been secured by the Gulley Administration to pave roads in our city such as Dartmouth Avenue and Fourth Avenue; replace bridge culverts at Hall and Blue Creeks; improve sidewalks in our downtown and near Hard, Abrams, and Jonesboro Elementary Schools; and build the city's first Rail-Trail. And Mayor Gulley promises to continue to work to improve the infrastructure in Bessemer. Let's Continue the Progress on August 23 Bessemer! Vote to Re-elect Kenneth Gulley, Mayor of Bessemer.
