Hello everyone,
This page is being put together to see how many volunteers we would get for holding a 1st responders appreciation day in our area. We are talking about those people who often put their lives on the line to protect us from all sorts of dangers & horrors. And for those who risk their lives flying through traffic while also frantically working on you or a loved one in the back. We all know of someone who has had a tragedy to deal with at one time or another and I know we all work hard at our jobs. But not many of us run into a fire or into a gun fight and so on.
The FD personally saved my Mom on a few occasions and my husband on Dec.23 of 2020. Most people want to show their thanks but just don’t know how. Well I hope we can all put together a lot of effort and plan a large enough one so we can feed all these heros.
We will have to find a large location where there will be plenty of parking and should have parking places for any fire trucks showing up. We will also need an area where the cookers can be set up with a few tents for those who need protection from the sun. If we can find a place with restrooms that would be great but if not we need places to put porta potties.
We will also need dedicated volunteers to head certain jobs along with their group of volunteers. I will add a list of different jobs I can think of right off hand in a few minutes. It will take a good bit of people. I am talking a lot. If we can get Middle school age kids and anyone older to help it can be done. There are scouts, Civic & Church groups just to name a few.
I am trying to work out a great deal on Crawfish for a Crawdad boil & Also have some BBQ & Anything else restaurants will donate from sweets, veggies to pasta & pizza.
We will have to clearly state that this is NOT a 501c3 event & that donations are
Non-deductible. Many businesses will still offer support because of the reason for our
Request.
We will need volunteers for the following areas. And this is just a partial list.
Advertising for more volunteers and donations, Mailing donation request
Getting a location set into place. Finding out what we will need like porta potties etc,
Talking to local restaurants for extra food donations,
Contacting big businesses like banks, Amazon, car dealerships etc.
People to keep up with volunteers such as who they are working with & what each volunteer is doing. We will have to make sure everything is documented and accounted for.
We will have many more things to add but a meeting must be held first & soon. I am sorry about how the page looks so far. I am NOT good with computers except for the basics so I will need someone to do the typical stuff on here for me.
