The County burn ban is still in effect.

The prevention division now has a way for anonymous complaints regarding fire code violations or dangerous conditions. Go to our permit website at nebcpermits.com then select report a code violation and fill out the information. This notifies the Fire Marshal. The prevention division will then investigate the situation and take preventative measures as necessary. Have a great Labor day Weekend.

Yes there has been some much needed rain. Yes we are still in a burn ban.

There is some haze and ash coming from a fire on FT Hood, with the wind shift from the North it is pushing it into our area.

Burning in a barrel is not allowed while in a burn ban, In accordance with the Burnet County burn ban order.

There have been numerous grass fires in the County this past few days. It is very dry and with high temperatures and lower humidity grass ignites easily. Burning in a barrel, welding, mowing, old burn piles from last month. Please, if it involves anything that can produce a spark or heat best not to do it, or at least have a fire watch standing by with a water source. Be careful out there, stay hydrated.

Wr have units assisting on this fire. Please be safe out there it is very dry and fuels ignite easily.
