Some of our Clarke County students were recognized this past weekends' Youth Art Show hosted by ShenArts of Wi******er, Virginia. The show is on display through this month at the Wi******er Courthouse. We have eighth grader, Ocean Barto, awarded 1st place for her conceptual ceramic sculpture, "Silent Agreement", seventh grader, Owen Burgess, awarded 3rd place for his ceramic mask sculpture of "Barney the Bear", sixth grader, Ian Stout, awarded Honorable Mention for his graphite drawing of guitarist "James Hetfield", and eighth grader, Jolie Colfelt, awarded the Banner Award for her oil pastel rendition of Picasso's "Woman with Hand on Shoulder". Sixth grader Parker Byrd and seventh grader Bryce Bogert also have artwork on display.
Jolie's artwork will be hanging in the ShenArts gallery downtown on the walking mall in Wi******er for the next few months, alongside other banner award members in the greater community. Her work will be reproduced onto one of the hanging banners for the walking mall to be on display for the next year!

Cobgratulations band students on a successful performance at VBODA District 14 Concert Assessment. Here are our results:

Advanced Band received two ratings of "3" (Good) and one rating of "2" (Excellent) for their stage performance, and a rating of "1" (Superior) for their Sight Reading. This is especially impressive as we have not dedicated much time to learning this skill, and they achieved straight A's on their adjudication form. These results lead to an overall score of "2."

Intermediate Band received three ratings of "3" for their stage performance. They received a rating of "1" for their Sight Reading. This is astounding news seeing as those students had literally never sight read a piece of music like that before the time they had to do it for a score. They have also received an overall score of "2."

A big thank you to Mr. Clark for his dedication to our bands!

Congratulations Blake B., Alex T., and Tina C. for their Pawsitive Behavior referrals from Mrs. Harp. All three students have been prepared for math, completing their assignments, participating in class, and are a role model for others. Ms. Karen referred Derek L. as he saw her struggling with 2 trash cans and helped her empty them without being prompted. Congratulations!
