Bernardsville was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 6, 1924, from portions of Bernards Township

The borough was named for Sir Francis Bernard, 1st Baronet, who served as governor of the Province of New Jersey. Bernardsville is often

mispronounced as "Bern-ARDS-ville" as opposed to the correct parochial pronunciation "BERN-ards-ville".

The Borough Council is exploring options to replace the aging playground equipment at Claremont Field, and we'd love to hear from our residents.

Attached are renderings of a proposed new playground design that is being considered as a replacement. Before any decisions are made, we want your feedback!

that approximately 50% of Bernardsville residents rely on private wells for their drinking water? To help ensure your water remains safe and healthy, discounted well water testing kits will be available for purchase at Bernardsville Borough Hall now through June 12th, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Residents can collect samples at home and return them to Borough Hall on Thursday, June 18, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Results are typically emailed within approximately three weeks.

Testing is available for a variety of contaminants, including:

โœ”๏ธ Arsenic
โœ”๏ธ Lead
โœ”๏ธ And more
