⚡️🚑❤️ National CPR & AED Awareness Week ❤️ 🚑⚡️

In a cardiac emergency, the first 5 minutes are critical. Effective CPR and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can sustain a life until first responders arrive! We encourage everyone to become familiar with these life saving techniques. For more information including how to learn CPR, check out the American Heart Association site (cpr.heart.org).

🥜🚫 Food Allergy Awareness Week 🚫🥛

This week is Food Allergy Awareness Week. Allergic reactions to food can range from mild discomfort to life-threatening anaphylactic shock. Check out food labels, know the signs of an allergic reaction, and don’t hesitate to call for help in an emergency. Often epinephrine auto-injectors (or Epipens) are available anywhere there is an AED machine and many people with allergies carry their own. Learn the signs of anaphylactic shock and educate yourself on how to use an Epipen. Check out foodallergy.org for more information.

🇺🇸🚒 👩‍🚒International Firefighters’ Day 🧑‍🚒🚒🇺🇸

While today is well known as Star Wars Day, this year it is also International Firefighters’ Day (IFFD). We ask you to recognize the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the men and women who run toward danger to protect our community. The story of IFFD is an amazing one, check out www.firefightersday.org for more detail. Here’s a quote from its founder: “The role of a firefighter in today’s society – be it urban, rural, natural environment, volunteer, career, industrial, defense force, aviation, motor sport, or other is one of dedication, commitment and sacrifice – no matter what country we reside and work in.
