SCSO Deputies were dispatched to a commercial burglary that occurred at the Speedway Convenient Store in San Ysidro, NM on 04/03/26, 12:52am. The preliminary investigation has determined the suspects smashed the front door glass with a metal bar and made entry. The thieves stole several cases of beer and exited the property. It appears that three male individuals were involved in the burglary.

Bernalillo Police Department is also investing a similar burglary attempt that occurred at the Allsup’s, 712 S Camino Del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM 87004 on 04/03/26, at 1:45am. The male suspects attempted to smash the front door glass, unaware there was an employee inside conducting maintenance. Once the suspects discovered the store was occupied, they fled the area. The vehicles associated with this attempted burglary may be a black Cadillac and a silver Chevy Impala.

At the beginning of March, deputies from the Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office had a great time visiting local elementary schools for Read Across America during Dr. Seuss Week! 📚
They spent time reading with students, sharing stories, and encouraging a love of books. The fun didn’t stop there—deputies also joined in for recess and PE, making lasting memories and building positive connections with the kids.
Thank you to our deputies and school staff at Algodones Elementary and Sandia View Christian School for making this such a special and meaningful experience for everyone involved! 💙🚓

Fun Fact Friday!!

Detective Chewning from Sandoval County Sheriffs Office, participated in the NM Special Olympics Bowling Event at Silva Lanes in Albuquerque on March 21. The event was hosted by the New Mexico Livestock Board, with law enforcement officers from across the state participating. The event often pairs Special Olympics athletes with law enforcement officers for a fun night of competition to support year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
Detective Don Chewning, SCSO and APD Patrol Officer James Sullivan, teamed up with Yakima and Ana.
