Yesterday a Valencia County jury convicted Jamie Rodriguez Perez of Child Abuse Resulting in Great Bodily Harm, and Intimidation of a Witness for abusing and severely injuring a six-year-old child between the dates of October 2024 and December 2024. The Defendant is now facing 21 years in the Department of Correction. Sentencing will be at a date to be determined.

We would like to give a special thanks to the prosecutors that worked on this case including, Matthew Hasler, and Audriana Martinez. We would also like to thank our staff that put many hours into making this prosecution successful, specifically Laurie Glaser, and Lacey Cheney. Finally, we would like to thank the victim and witnesses in this case for their trust and support as they moved through the process. Without the diligence of school officials, a quick response from CYFD, the work of the Belen Police Department, and a brave child, justice in this case would not have been possible.

Yesterday, a Valencia County jury found Ramiro Villa Diera Guilty of Criminal Sexual Pe*******on, Aggravated battery (by strangulation) against a household member, and Battery against a household member. This defendant faces up to 7 years in prison. His sentencing will be set at a later date.
I’d like to commend Chief Deputy District Attorney Jessica Martinez, Assistant District attorney Danielle Bryant, Victim advocate Lacey Cheney, and assistant Andrea Vasquez for all their hard work securing justice for the victim of these violent crimes.
