It’s the first day of school! The Berlin Police Department would like to wish all students, teachers, staff, and families of the Berlin-Boylston School District a safe, successful, and exciting school year.

As everyone settles back into their routines, please remember to slow down, stay alert, and watch for students in school zones, at bus stops, and around crosswalks.

Police Activity at Highland Commons

The Berlin Police Department was dispatched to the area of L.L.Bean at Highland Commons at approximately 7:38 p.m., along with the Hudson Police Department, to assist the Acton Police Department with an ongoing homicide investigation.

The Acton Police Department requested assistance in locating a suspect in connection with the investigation after information from a cellular phone ping potentially placed the individual in the Highland Commons area.

Officers from the responding departments conducted an extensive search of the area. After an extended period of searching, the suspect was not located.

We thank the public, businesses, and visitors in the area for their cooperation, patience, and understanding while police activity was taking place.

Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation and the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident, additional information is not immediately available at this time. Information may be limited or withheld while investigators work to protect the integrity of the investigation and address other investigative considerations.

The public is encouraged to rely on official information released by the involved police departments as the investigation continues.
