Hello Everyone,

Many of you may already know that on Easter morning, the Berlin Community lost a very important person, and we lost a great friend.
Mark lost his battle with Leukemia a day after his 74th Birthday.

Mark was a quiet man, but he was always a voice of reason. He was always the first to offer his help whether it was for the Berlin Rotary Club where he served as Secretary, The Berlin ICCA 4th of July Parade Assoc where he served as Vice President, DBRC or to support a friend. We will miss him greatly and we are all better people because we had Mark in in our lives.

Mark E. von der Tann Obituary
Mark von der Tann, born in 1952, of Berlin, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026. Mark was a man of few words, but his presence spoke volumes. He was someone everyone enjoyed being around- steady, kind, and genuinely liked by all who knew him. His quiet nature and warm spirit left a lasting impression on family and friends alike.

For much of his life, Mark worked in the insurance business, a career he truly enjoyed. He took pride in his work and built lasting relationships through his dedication and reliability. He also had a special appreciation for the women he worked with over the years, often referring to them as “the girls,” who became like family to him.

Mark was deeply committed to his community, particularly through his involvement with the Berlin Rotary, where he valued both the service and the friendships he built.

A devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Mark’s passion for his team spanned more than 50 years as a dedicated season ticket holder. He cherished attending games and sharing those experiences with loved ones, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. He also loved to play golf in his free time which was his happy place.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Terri von der Tann; his three sons, Randy von der Tann (wife Rachel von der Tann), Chad von der Tann, (wife Kathy von der Tann), and Justin von der Tann; and his three cherished grandchildren, Connor von der Tann, Brooke von der Tann, and Olivia von der Tann. He is also survived by his two sisters, Kim Dillich, and Leeanne English.

Mark’s legacy lives on through the family he loved deeply and the many lives he touched simply by being himself.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 6:00 to 7:30PM at the COSTANTINO-PRIMO FUNERAL HOME, 231 W. White Horse Pike, Berlin NJ 08009. Funeral Service will begin at 7:30PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society would be appreciated by following the link below.

The Berlin Rotary is proud to be a supporter of the Berlin Police Dept. May you all stay safe and continue to protect our residents as the Hero's you always are.

The Berlin Police Department trading card program is back!

Special thanks to the Berlin Rotary Club for sponsoring the program!

The Police trading card program is another community relations opportunity for police and department staff to engage youth or anyone who may want to collect or to know more about an officer. Each card has a unique image selected by the officer or staff member and the back side is a brief biography.

Ask a Berlin officer for their trading card when you see us in the community or at your school!

What is RYLA?
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a FREE leadership development program run by Rotary Clubs. RYLA focuses on high school juniors that are rising seniors in September. Students come from 9 Central and Southern New Jersey Counties (Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean, Monmouth, and Salem).
The RYLA Conference includes a variety of topics. It is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and district leadership where you develop your skills as a leader while having fun and making connections with other students your age.

What are the benefits?
Connect with leaders in your community and around the world to:
• Build communication and problem-solving skills
• Discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader in your school or community
• Learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors
• Unlock your potential to turn motivation into action
• Have fun and form lasting friendships

What’s involved?
• RYLA events are organized locally by Rotary clubs and districts for participants who are high school juniors that are rising seniors in September. RYLA is a retreat, that lasts for 5-day, 4-night at Stockton University and includes icebreakers, interactive group activities, teambuilding, and leadership sessions covering a variety of current topics.
• Your counselors are educators that are trained to hone in on a students leadership potential, help students develop creative problem-solving strategies, and learn ethical business practices through…
o Communication skills
o Problem solving and conflict management and resolution
o Community and global citizenship
o and so much more!

For juniors in High School only, our RYLA 2025 Conference will be held at Stockton University! We know many students and Rotary Clubs have been looking forward to this conference, with many students anticipating this since freshman year and maybe even before that.

We have an awesome program planned with all new and exciting activities and events. Our Conference dates are Sunday, June 22nd to Thursday, June 26th. Our conferees will have a five (5) day and four (4) night stay in the dorm rooms at Stockton University, and will get a little taste of college life, living in the dorm rooms.
