This Labor Day, we celebrate the true meaning of the day: the dignity of work and the people whose labor builds our communities, cares for our families, teaches our children, protects our safety, and keeps our economy moving.

Labor Day was born from the labor movement’s fight for fair wages, safe workplaces, reasonable hours, and the right of workers to organize. Those values still matter today.

As we enjoy this holiday, let’s honor the workers who came before us—and recommit ourselves to building an economy where everyone who works hard has the opportunity to build a good life.

Happy Labor Day—and thank you to every worker who makes our communities stronger.💙✊

Gloria Steinem, 1934 to 2026.

A pioneer and a powerhouse organizer, author and advocate for women's rights, she co-founded the National Women's Political Caucus, the Women's Action Alliance and Ms. magazine, and spent more than half a century fighting for reproductive freedom, equal pay, and a democracy that includes everyone.

Her legacy is every woman who was told no and refused to accept it.

The Berlin Democrats honor her life and carry her work forward. Rest in power, Gloria.

URGENT: The USDA is recalling nearly 25,000 pounds of frozen buffalo chicken products, warning of “serious, adverse health consequences or death.”

The recall encompasses five states: Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Products recalled include buffalo chicken rangoons and buffalo chicken mozzarella sticks sold by the Shanghai Ravioli Corporation.

Health officials are warning that these products “may contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants that put consumer health and safety at risk.”

The USDA is urging customers to check their freezers and not consume or serve these products, declaring they “should be thrown away or returned.”
