Today I want to wish my buddy, partner, and K9 Jax a very happy 3rd birthday! 🐾❤️

Jax, I’m not sure you’ll ever truly know how much you mean to me. Thank you for the laughs, the memories, the companionship, and most importantly, the unconditional love you bring with you every single day. There’s something pretty special about having a partner who is always by your side, no matter what the day brings.

I’m incredibly grateful that I get to come to work every day and have you right there beside me. You’ve become so much more than just my K9 partner—you’re my buddy, my teammate, and a big part of my everyday life.

While I was hard at work trying to finish a grant, I looked over at my partner, K9 Jax… apparently he decided his part of the assignment was to supervise from dreamland. 😴🐾

🐾🚔 K9 Jax took a break from his busy schedule for a little "fluff and buff" today at PetSmart Grooming!

A huge shoutout to Sarah for taking such great care of the big guy. She got him looking and smelling his best. Now he's all cleaned up, styling, and ready to get back out in the community—although he might spend a little extra time admiring all the compliments on his fresh look! 😄

Jax and I had the opportunity to meet with Officer Schaeffer and Franny (Jax's sister) this morning for some tracking training before the temperatures became too hot.

Every time I watch these dogs work, I'm reminded of just how incredible they are. Whether Jax is providing comfort to someone going through a difficult time or putting his nose to the ground on a track, his focus and determination never change. It's amazing to see the instinct, drive, and training come together every time he's asked to do a job.

While Jax gets a lot of the attention, none of it would be possible without the dedicated people behind the scenes who have invested countless hours training him and helping him become the dog he is today. Their commitment, patience, and passion are what make these partnerships so successful.

A heartfelt thank you to Hudson K9 and Professional K9 Services for their outstanding training and continued support. Your dedication to developing exceptional working dogs is truly appreciated.

I'd also like to thank Boonefield Labradors for breeding such remarkable dogs. The quality, temperament, and work ethic they produce are second to none, and we're fortunate to have Jax as part of our department.

To everyone who has played a role in Jax's journey—thank you. I went looking for Jax this afternoon because we had some training to do. Instead of finding my partner, I found a note on the table that simply read:
"Taking a vacation day. Don't wait up."
Naturally, I went to track him down. When I finally found him, this is what I walked into—Chef Jax running a full-blown cookout for his friends, sunglasses on, spatula in paw, and acting like he owns the place.
I was going to have a serious discussion with him about skipping work, but then I remembered all the hard work he puts in, the smiles he brings to so many people, and the countless lives he touches in our community. So, after a brief review of his vacation request (which he apparently approved himself), I decided to let it slide.
Enjoy your day off, buddy—you've earned it. Just don't expect me to explain the overtime charges for hot dogs and hamburgers!

Jax and I had the privilege of assisting Franny and Officer Tim Schaffer (Harvard Police Department) at the Special Olympics yesterday at the Russell Street Athletic Complex in Littleton, MA.

What an incredible day filled with inspiration, determination, and pure joy. We had the opportunity to cheer on the athletes, meet amazing families and new friends, and witness firsthand the strength and spirit of this remarkable community.

Seeing the athletes smiling, pushing themselves, supporting one another, and simply having fun was truly the highlight of the day. Their courage, perseverance, and positivity reminded us all what sports — and life — are really about.
