Mayor Ward and the Village of Berlin Heights have declared today, May 14th, Apraxia Awareness Day. Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) is a speech disorder that disrupts the brains ability to help the mouth form the movements necessary for understandable speech. People with CAS know what they want to say, but it is difficult to verbalize their message. Spreading awareness helps families recognize symptoms so the children in their lives can get the help they need.

Village resident, Tess, was diagnosed with CAS at two years old. Thanks to community awareness, early intervention, and her incredible efforts in speech therapy, she will be attending Kindergarten next year with little to no accommodations!

Level 3 begins at 2 PM

Erie County will be going under a Level 3 Winter Weather Road Condition Warning beginning at 2 pm. Due to the heavy snowfall and winds, the road crews are having difficulty keeping the roads clear. Many township roads throughout the county are becoming difficult to travel on and some parts are impassable now. We anticipate the Level 3 remaining in effect until mid-morning tomorrow. We hope that with daybreak and the snow tapering off, the road crews will be able to make some headway and get the roads cleared off. Thank you for your cooperation.
