BHS Seniors who attended AMS got to walk the halls of AMS one last time during the annual BHS Senior Clap Out where graduating Seniors get to visit their former elementary and middle school on their last day of high school. We wish all of our former Vikings and all of the 2026 BHS graduates all the best as they move on to the next phase of their life!

The 8th Grade DC trip is complete. We wrapped up our trip with a visit to Mount Vernon in Arlington VA, home to President George Washington and are now en route home. We hope all of our 8th Grades who attended enjoyed their experience and made memories to remember for a lifetime! Special thanks to Mrs. Currie, who goes above and beyond to coordinate this trip along with Mr. Mustonen, Mrs. Russell, and Mr. Ross who served as staff chaperones. Lastly thanks to our parent chaperones, Cait Dombrowski, Ryan Knapp, David Lutz, and Karen Wright.

It was an action packed Day 2 of the 8th Grade DC trip. The day started with a photo op at the Capitol followed by a quick stop at the souvenir shop. We then went to the National Archives Museum followed by an opportunity for students to visit other Smithsonian Museums at the National Mall. We then headed to Arlington National Cemetery where students got to witness the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. After spending about 2 hours at Arlington, we then headed to the Jefferson and MLK Memorials. After dinner, we visited the 911 Memorial at the Pentagon and the night wrapped up with a visit to the Korean and Vietnam Memorials and the Lincoln Memorial.

Day 1 of the 8th Grade Washington DC trip is complete. After departing from the AMS parking lot at 5:30 am, we arrived in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania at 2:30 pm to begin visiting attractions. Students watched a short film which provided context and the timeline of the 1863 Battle at Gettysburg followed by a 360 degree animated light show. We then went on a 2 hour guided bus tour of the actual Gettysburg Battlefield. We are now on our way to the hotel to wrap up the day.

On Thursday evening, 28 students from across the district (7 from AMS) were recognized at the Youth Assistance Recognition Ceremony for their positive contributions to their school. Students recognized from AMS were Charlotte Buckley, Reese Chaney, Charlie Converse, Samantha Jones, Frances Lambert, Anna Rittenbery, and Hazel Srugis. All of these students are part of our Peer-To-Peer program and are simply magical with the students they work with. These amazing students give of their time to work daily with some of our students with more significant disabilities and the positive impact they have on our students is immeasurable. On behalf of all of us, we thank all of these students for their kind hearts, compassion, and willingness to go above and beyond their basic student responsibilities to make a positive impact in our school.

Thursday night, we had the opportunity to honor and recognize 61 outstanding 7th graders at our annual National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Induction Ceremony. Students qualify for NJHS in 7th Grade by earning a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher through 6 terms (terms 1-4 from 6th Grade and terms 1 and 2 of 7th Grade) and earning citizenship marks no less than a 2. We congratulate our 7th Graders who were inducted on Thursday evening and thank them for being a positive role model in our school.
