Association of Children's Librarians of Northern California ACL was founded in the 1930s by a group of public and school librarians. Members meet monthly to review books for young people and discuss related issues.

In June 2025, Jason Reynolds released Soundtrack, an audio-book original that went on to win an Odyssey Award Honor. In April 2026, Soundtrack will become available in a printed format.
