Some background on the new MCEDA director who begins work on Monday.

Betsy Heath is a West Virginia native, originally from neighboring Berkeley County, and has resided in Morgan County for 18 years. She has co-owned and managed Lot 12 Public House restaurant for the past 16 years. Heath’s involvement in the local community has included serving on: the EDA Board of Directors for 8 years; WV Buy Fresh, Buy Local Board of Directors; Morgan County Association of Food and Farms (MCAFF) Board of Directors, and volunteers for the Warm Springs Intermediate School Garden Program. She successfully completed contract work for MCEDA that earned funding from WVEDC for the local EDA program and coordinated the first Morgan County Farm Directory. Heath is a graduate of Shepherd University and is also an adjunct professor at Blue Ridge CTC.

Both the selection committee of EDA and the County Commissioners had high praise for Heath and look forward to a productive EDA under her leadership.

More excellent work in one of our local businesses. Congratulations to Berkeley Club. And EDA is satisfied to know that our 4 year Business Coach program with WV Small Business development Center -- and Business Coach Bob Marggraf, played an essential role in this company's growth.

In an effort to capture a different niche in the growing bottled water industry, Berkeley Springs Water made a move this summer to add “manufacturer” to their business profile.

We are proud to announce that EDA is joining the Berkeley Springs-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce in honoring G*t Creek on this day, acknowledging how they are the model for the type of manufacturing we work to attract here. We are also pleased to support the launch of G*t Creek's 8th catalog of products this year featuring a picture of Berkeley Springs on the cover. And, that the beautiful catalog -- a collector's item for sure -- is the design and photography work of local artist Robert Peak Design.. Thanks G*t Creek!
