Pinwheels symbolize childhood joy, but they also remind us that when the conditions are right, children can stay safe and thrive. Prevention is about creating those conditions early, partnering with parents, reducing stress, strengthening families, and investing in community-defined solutions.

This April, Pinwheels of Possibility invites us to imagine, and build, a future where families are supported before crisis, communities lead the way, and prevention is the norm.

Keep your eyes open and see all the Pinwheels of Possibility that are popping up all over the county. We will be posting photos, but feel free to show your support and send us your favorite of Possibility picture from around town!

πŸ’™πŸŒΌ Pinwheels of Possibility | Child Abuse Prevention Month πŸŒΌπŸ’™

When families are connected and supported early, everyone benefits. βœ… Prevention worksβ€”and the data proves it.

🏠🌱 Families with young children are 27% less likely to experience homelessness when they receive home visiting support.

πŸ‘ΆπŸ½πŸΌ 48% fewer infants are born at low birthweight when families have early support.

πŸ‘πŸ’› Family stability grows when caregivers have access to trusted resources and guidance.

🀝🏘️ Strong communities thrive when policies like Paid Family Leave and State Child Tax Credits help reduce neglect and abuse.

This Child Abuse Prevention Month, let’s focus on what truly makes a difference: early support, prevention, and strong family connections. Together, we can create safe, stable, and nurturing environments where every child can grow and thrive 🌈✨

Why Prevention Matters
● Nearly 1 in 7 children in the U.S. experiences abuse or neglect each year.
● Research shows that Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), safe, stable, and nurturing relationships, protect children and promote lifelong well-being.
● Families supported early are better equipped to provide safe and stable environments where children can reach their full potential.
Prevention works best when it focuses on what families need, not on reacting after harm has occurred.

Pinwheels of Possibility
Core Message
Every child is born full of promise. When families have the support they need early, before stress becomes a crisis, children grow up safer, healthier, and full of hope for the future. Child abuse and neglect are preventable, and prevention begins when families and communities are empowered to define what support looks like and systems align to meet those needs.
What Pinwheels of Possibility Represents
Pinwheels symbolize childhood joy and imagination, but they also represent something deeper.
They remind us that when the conditions are right, children can thrive.
Prevention is about creating those conditions early by:
● Partnering with parents
● Strengthening families
● Investing in community-defined solutions
Pinwheels of Possibility reflects a strengths-based vision that centers families and communities as the foundation of child well-being.
