📢 Attention Bergenfield Residents 📢

Please be advised that Bergenfield Borough Hall will be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and serves as a time to reflect on our nation's history, celebrate freedom, and recognize the ongoing pursuit of equality and justice for all.

Additionally, beginning Monday, June 22, Borough Hall's Summer Hours schedule will be in effect through Labor Day.

🕒 Summer Hours:
• Monday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
• Tuesday: 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM
• Wednesday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
• Thursday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
• Friday: 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM

We encourage residents to plan their visits accordingly.

Residents are invited to attend the Bergen County Juneteenth Community Festival tomorrow, Thursday, June 18th, beginning at 5:00 PM.

Hosted by County Executive Jim Tedesco, the Bergen County Board of Commissioners, and the Bergen County African American Advisory Committee, this special event will celebrate freedom, culture, community, and the enduring significance of Juneteenth.

Please be advised that Borough Hall Summer Hours will be in effect beginning Monday, June 22, 2026.

🕒 Summer Hours of Operation:

• Monday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
• Tuesday: 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM
• Wednesday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
• Thursday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
• Friday: 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM

The extended Tuesday evening hours provide residents with additional time to access Borough services.

We encourage residents to plan their visits accordingly. For questions regarding Borough services, please contact Borough Hall during regular business hours.

🚨 DPW Reminder to Residents 🚨

Please be advised that the Department of Public Works (DPW) will not collect vegetative waste placed in 60-gallon landscape barrels.

As stated in the Borough's Garbage & Recycling Collection Calendar, the maximum container size permitted for vegetative waste collection is 32 gallons. Residents should utilize 32-gallon barrels or smaller, or place vegetative waste in approved paper yard waste bags.

⚠️ Vegetative waste placed in containers larger than 32 gallons will not be collected.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping our DPW crews operate safely and efficiently. Please review your collection calendar for additional guidelines regarding vegetative waste disposal.

What an amazing Flag Day celebration at Borough Hall!

Following the raising of the American flag, we proudly held a separate flag-raising ceremony in honor of Philippine Independence Day. It was a meaningful opportunity to celebrate both our nation's enduring values and the rich cultural heritage of our Filipino community.

We are proud to have raised both flags and to embrace the diversity that makes our community stronger. Events like these remind us that while we come from many backgrounds, we are united by shared values of freedom, respect, and patriotism.

A special thank you to the Bergenfield High School Band for their outstanding performances of both the United States National Anthem and the Philippine National Anthem. Their talent and dedication helped make this celebration truly memorable.

🚨 Water Service Update 🚨

UPDATE: Watermain is fixed high school has water. They’re just doing the final cleanup on the street and paving.

Residents in the area of South Vivyan and Vreeland Ave.

Water service is currently out in the area referenced above.
As a result, the high school will have a delayed opening today. All other schools will operate on their regular schedules.
Veolia has been notified and has been on-site since approximately 1:30 a.m. working to identify and resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

What a wonderful Flag Day ceremony today, brought together by the Bergenfield Elks, Bergenfield Antlers, and the Bergenfield Museum at historic Cooper’s Pond. It was a truly patriotic celebration that reminded us of the values and freedoms our American flag represents.

A special congratulations to the Bergenfield Marching Band for their outstanding performance and for helping make the event so memorable. Your dedication and talent continue to make our community proud!

We invite everyone to join us again today at 3:00 PM for the Borough’s American Flag Day celebration featuring another performance by the Bergenfield Marching Band, followed by the Philippine Flag Raising Ceremony.

As we celebrate our nation and honor our heritage, we are reminded that culture is an important part of who we are. Embracing and sharing our diverse traditions strengthens our community, fosters understanding, and brings people together.
