The NYS Department of Transportation announced that 490 between Exit 2 and Exit 6 will be reduced to intermittent single-lane traffic for a pavement rehabilitation project.

Motorists in Monroe and Genesee Counties will see lane reductions on I-490.

The NYS Department of Transportation announced that 490 between Exit 2 and Exit 6 will be reduced to intermittent single-lane traffic for a pavement rehabilitation project.

Motorists can expect work on the eastbound lanes to be from Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., while work on the westbound lanes will be Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The DOT says the on and off-ramps between these exits will also be reduced to one lane during construction. The work is expected to be finished in time for the Fourth of July, but construction is weather-dependent and subject to change.

Beginning on Monday, June 1st, 2026, NYS Route 19 will be closed to all traffic over the Black Creek Overflow (located 2.2 miles North of the NYS Route 33 Intersection.) This closure will facilitate the replacement of the Black Creek Overflow Bridge, with a new integral abutment galvanized steel girder bridge.

An offsite detour will be posted to direct motorists around the work zone. Traffic will be routed using NYS Route 33, NYS Route 36, and NYS Route 31. Advance warning signage will be placed on the highway prior to the closure date to alert motorists of the upcoming change in traffic pattern. As part of NYS Bike Route 19, a bicycle detour will also be posted during the closure.

The closure is expected to remain in place until late September 2026.

The Village of Bergen is looking for a lead counselor for the 2026 Summer Recreation Program. The program runs June 29th through August 7th, Monday through Friday, 10am to 1pm daily. Must be at least 18 years of age. Interested applicants should submit a cover letter with resume' to [email protected].

NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a special meeting will be held by the Village Planning Board on April 29th at 7:00 p.m., 11 North Lake Avenue, Bergen, New York to see the site plan for the proposed project to demolish the existing Bergen Family Restaurant building and construct a new 7,500 square foot building in its place. Also to be seen are the applications for the special use permits for an outdoor assembly or seating area and a permitted use over 2,500 square feet for the real property located at 8097 and 8073 Clinton Street Road. A Public Hearing will then be held on May 20th at 7pm.

Re-Organizational Meeting & Budget Vote - Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026

The Village will hold a Special Meeting Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026 at the Village Hall located at 11 N. Lake Avenue 6:30pm to vote on the proposed 2026-2027 General, Sewer, and Electric budgets and to hold the annual Re-Organizational Meeting.
