As Memorial Day approaches, the Beresford Police Department would like to take a moment to remember the men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

While many of us will spend the long weekend with family and friends, enjoying cookouts, lake trips, and time off from work, it’s important to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day. This day is dedicated to honoring those who never made it home.

Their sacrifice gave us the freedoms we enjoy every day, and we are forever grateful.

As you travel throughout the weekend, please do so safely. Buckle up, slow down, put the phone away, and never drive impaired.

From all of us at the Beresford Police Department, we wish everyone a safe Memorial Day weekend as we remember and honor our nation’s fallen heroes.

The Beresford Police Department will be participating in the May Click It or Ticket mobilization.

Our officers will be out conducting saturation patrols during this campaign with a focus on seatbelt enforcement.

The reason is simple: seatbelts save lives.

Too many people in South Dakota are still being seriously injured or killed in crashes because they weren’t buckled up. It only takes a couple seconds to click that seatbelt, and it could save your life.

Whether you’re driving across town, heading to Sioux Falls, or just making a quick trip down the street, buckle up every time. That goes for adults, teens, and everyone riding in the vehicle.

Help us keep the roadway roads safe.

**Buckle up. Drive safe. Get where you’re going.**
