Our Silent Auction is happening on September 12, at our annual fundraising dinner, and the items up for grabs are incredible.

From a stunning Epiphone electric guitar, to one-of-a-kind original artwork by local Berea artists, Lego wall art, and family photo sessions, these items and services were donated by generous community members who believe, just like we do, that no neighbor in Madison County should face the cold alone.

Every single bid goes directly toward opening our emergency winter shelter from January through March and keeping our most vulnerable Berea neighbors safe, warm, and dignified when temperatures drop.

An introduction of our 2026 Room In The Inn Fundraising Dinner guest speaker!

We're honored to welcome Jason Bailey, Founder and Executive Director of the Kentucky Center for Economic Policy, as our featured speaker. Jason is a familiar voice in Kentucky media and a regular speaker to civic organizations on the economic and fiscal issues facing our commonwealth. His public service includes appointments to the Governor's Blue Ribbon Commission on Tax Reform and the Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System Funding Work Group. He holds a master's in public administration from New York University and calls Berea home with his wife and daughters.

Join us Saturday, September 12 at 6 PM for an evening of good food, good company, and a shared commitment to making sure no one in Berea faces a winter night without shelter. Plus, a silent auction is in the works. Stay tuned for details!

Community connection request 🚐

Room In The Inn Berea is gearing up for our upcoming emergency winter shelter season, and our board is looking for a lead on a 12-passenger van, either to purchase or rent from January 1 to March 15, that we'd use to transport guests safely to and from the motel each night. We are thinking through some more permanent options. As you all know, in the past we have used several community-oriented solutions to address the transportation issue, but we don't want to continue to be a burden on the community when it comes to transportation.

If you know an individual, dealership, rental company, or organization that might be able to help (through a donation, a good deal, a lease arrangement, or even just pointing us in the right direction for a grant), we'd be so grateful to hear from you.

🏠Overnight Shelter Available!🏠

In partnership with the American Red Cross, our building at 110 South Second Street will be opened as an Overnight Shelter due to flooding across our community. Shelter is available for displaced individuals and families, or those at risk from flash flooding later tonight. Resource Navigators and Red Cross volunteers will be on-site to help community members work through this difficult time.

Overnight Shelter Details:
📍Enrich, 110 South Second Street
🕕Opening at 6:00PM on June 27th for overnight stay
1️⃣One night only - Resource Navigators and Red Cross representatives will help displaced families explore long-term arrangements.

Don't wait! More rain overnight will cause more flooding. The longer you wait to evacuate, the longer it will take first responders to reach you. Check on at-risk, elderly, or vulnerable neighbors so they can get to safety!

A huge thanks to many partners who are collaborating to see our community members taken care of: City of Richmond KY, Madison County KY, First Baptist Church of Richmond, Richmond House of Prayer, Encounter Church, all local first responder agencies, and numerous individual volunteers.

Friends, supporters, volunteers, we have just a few hours left of this Kentucky Gives Day (less than 5, actually!). Here’s how we’re doing so far: we are 73 motel rooms away from meeting our goal in preparation for the next emergency shelter season. Wow! Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has already made a gift 🙏

None of the work we do winter after winter happens without community support. None of it happens without YOU.

Room In The Inn Berea served 185 guests who are your neighbors. Our statistics are clear: 76% of them had lived in Madison County for more than 1 year. We want to break down the myth that these people are strangers. They're members of our community who needed a safe place to land in the freezing winter temperatures.

We're a little bit halfway through Kentucky Gives Day and every dollar is adding up. As of noon, we've raised $1,478 toward our $8,510 goal. That's 32 motel rooms funded.

To put $8,510 in perspective: just $46 provides one motel room for a neighbor with nowhere else to go. Last season, we provided 2,457 motel rooms across 75 nights of emergency shelter. That's 2,457 times a neighbor had a warm, safe place to sleep instead of facing the uncertainty of the coldest winter nights.

I won’t bother you until later tonight, but I wanted to share with you a reason to give between 5 and 6 PM today: the After-Work Boost Match is a one-to-one match on every online gift made during that hour. Give $50, we receive $50. Give $100, we receive $100. The match caps at $100 per gift, so that's the sweet spot, but every dollar above that still goes directly to RITI.
