🎯 FI****MS TRAINING COMPLETE! 🎯

Over the past two weeks, the Lake Michigan College Police Academy recruits have put in approximately 90 hours of intensive fi****ms training.

Throughout the training, recruits worked to develop safe weapon handling, accuracy, decision-making, and proficiency across multiple fi***rm platforms. After many long days on the range and countless rounds downrange, we’re proud to announce that every recruit successfully qualified!

This milestone represents a tremendous amount of hard work, focus, discipline, and commitment from our recruits—as well as the dedication of the fi****ms instructors who guided them throughout the process.

Another major step completed as they continue their journey toward becoming Michigan law enforcement officers.

🎓 Week One: Complete! 💪🚔

The recruits of the Lake Michigan College Police Academy have officially survived their first week—and they wasted no time getting to work!

During their first week, recruits completed Mental Health Resiliency Training, began building their strength and endurance through Physical Fitness Training—including their diagnostic fitness test—and completed First Aid Training. It was a week designed to challenge them mentally and physically while laying the foundation for the weeks ahead.

This class may be smaller than the groups we’re used to seeing, but don’t let the numbers fool you. They are every bit as mighty as the classes that have come before them. Their determination, teamwork, and willingness to embrace the challenges ahead are already showing.

One week down, many more challenges to go. Keep pushing, recruits—the journey has just begun! 👊

Tomorrow marks a first for the Lake Michigan College Police Academy! 🚔

At 6:59 a.m. tomorrow morning, we officially begin Day One of our first Fall Police Academy session.

We’re excited to welcome a new group of recruits, including recruits representing six local law enforcement agencies and one pre-service recruit, as they begin the challenging and rewarding journey toward becoming Michigan law enforcement officers.

The early mornings, long days, classroom hours, physical training, tests, and countless lessons all start tomorrow.

To our recruits: show up ready to learn, ready to work, and ready to earn it.

Week 16 at the Lake Michigan College Police Academy challenged our recruits like never before. This week, they successfully completed a gauntlet of training events, including final subject control scenarios, civil disorder training, final scenario night, and OC spray exposure.

These demanding experiences tested their physical and mental toughness, decision-making, and teamwork. Our recruits rose to the challenge and demonstrated the professionalism and resilience required to serve their communities.

With academy training nearly complete, they now turn their attention to next week's state licensing examination. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication and wish them the best as they prepare for this final milestone.

🚔🐕 Week 15 is in the books for our Lake Michigan College Police Academy recruits!
We wrapped up the week with an exciting K9 demonstration. A special thank you to Officer Wortman from the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety for taking the time to provide an outstanding presentation this afternoon. Your expertise and dedication to law enforcement training are greatly appreciated!

With just one week remaining, our recruits are preparing for the state licensing exam on July 7th. The finish line is in sight—let's finish strong! 💪🎓🚓

🚔 Training Beyond the Classroom at the LMC Police Academy 🚔

At the LMC Police Academy, learning doesn't stop with lectures and textbooks. Our recruits are gaining valuable experience through hands-on, scenario-based training designed to prepare them for the realities of modern law enforcement.

Over the past several weeks, recruits have participated in:

🔍 Crime Scene Processing — Developing critical investigative skills through evidence collection, documentation, and scene management.

🚓 Traffic Stop Scenarios — Practicing communication, officer safety, decision-making, and legal considerations during vehicle stops.

💙 Behavioral Health Scenarios — Building the skills needed to effectively respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises with professionalism, empathy, and care.

🌙 Full Scenario Night — Putting it all together in a series of realistic, high-pressure scenarios that challenged recruits to think critically, work as a team, and apply the knowledge they've gained throughout the academy.

These practical exercises help bridge the gap between the classroom and the field, preparing the next generation of law enforcement professionals to serve their communities with confidence, competence, and compassion.

The recruits of the Lake Michigan College Police Academy put in the work today, tackling the challenging stairs on the bluff at Silver Beach in St. Joseph, Michigan. With Lake Michigan as their backdrop, these future law enforcement professionals pushed their endurance, strengthened their resilience, and demonstrated the determination required to serve their communities.

Every step up the bluff represents the commitment, discipline, and perseverance that are essential in a career dedicated to public safety. The road to becoming a police officer isn't easy—but neither are the challenges they'll face in the field.
