Hey Bennington friends! We're helping spread the word about this opportunity to join the Justice Reading Group for an exploration of Defund Fear: Safety Without Policing, Prisons, and Punishment by Zach Norris.

The meetings will take place at UU Meetinghouse (108 School Street Bennington) at 7 pm on three Wednesday evenings: April 27; May 18; and June 15.

Come out for a belated celebration of Martin Luther King Day on Saturday, March 19th, at 7pm at the Oldcastle Theater (321 Main St)!

Two renowned historically Black men's choirs will be performing at this free-of-charge concert. Voluntary donations will go toward supporting local resettlement efforts for families from Afghanistan. The winners of the 2022 Martin Luther King High School Poster Contest will also be recognized. See you there, and please spread the word!

Town of Bennington folks, your voice is needed in support of civilian oversight for police!

There are in-person select board meetings on March 14th and March 28th at 6pm at the River Street Firehouse that we hope you will attend (community oversight is on the agenda for March 14th).

You can learn about the Safety and Equity Task Force's recommendations for a Community Police Advisory and Review Board (CPARB) at the link below.

And if you want to get more involved in the Bennington work for police accountability, in April you can apply to serve on the Board!

RAD Bennington Chapter will not be meeting this month. We want everyone to have time to spend with their families and friends over the holiday season. Our next meeting will be January 19, 2022 at 6:30 pm.

Participate in a task force of up to eleven members to accomplish the following charge: Develop recommendations for the name, scope, structure, membership and responsibilities of a community safety and equity board. Areas of focus will include: 1. Recommendations on police department training and community collaboration efforts; 2. Review of complaints against the Bennington Police Department; 3. Development and review of proposed critical Bennington Police Department policies and procedures; 4. Analysis of safety and equity data.
