Scattered storms linger early this morning, but taper off later in the morning, allowing us to dry out the rest of the day. Generally, cooler temperatures north of I-70 than to the south can be expected over the next several days, but everyone will heat back up for the end of the week. Rain chances return this weekend with cooler temperatures into next week.

A band of showers and storms extends from southwest Kansas to northeast Kansas this morning with the main concern being the potential for heavy rainfall. Additionally, patchy fog has also been observed in portions of central Kansas. Use extra caution if commuting this morning.

Active weather pattern sets up over the next week with several rounds for storms, especially by next week. Scattered chances of storms will be expected over the weekend as temperatures return to the 90s Sunday and Monday.

Scattered storms will be possible after 4 pm on Saturday across mainly south central and eastern Kansas. The stronger storms will be capable of half dollar size hail along with 60 mph winds. Have a plan if you have outdoor activities scheduled Saturday evening.

Later tonight into early Thursday morning, additional storms are likely. Some storms could produce localized flooding and brief gusty winds, mainly across southeast Kansas.

The stretch of hot temperatures will continue areawide through Tuesday and across southern Kansas on Wednesday. Rain chances will return late Tuesday into Wednesday with additional chances into next week. Temperatures will remain in the 80s and 90s beyond Wednesday.
