We had a great time today as Elizabeth Chew, CEO of the South Carolina Historical Society, gave a presentation on Art and the American Revolution in the Murchison Auditorium. This was part of the Society’s Stories Around the State initiative, funded by the SC250 Commission. Thanks to everyone who made it possible here in Marlboro County!

Still time to register! And join us Monday, June 8, at 12 for a lunch and learn.

Join us at 12 p.m. Monday, June 8, for an exciting “Lunch and Learn” at Murchison School.

Dr. Elizabeth Chew, CEO of the South Carolina Historical Society, will present “Art and the American Revolution.” In this program, participants will examine the ways that artists depicted the American Revolution both while it was happening and after independence was won. We will consider the images that were available to newly minted Americans so that they could envision the war and its heroes. We will end by looking at the ways the Revolution was remembered fifty years later as the nation headed toward Civil War.

This is part of the South Carolina Historical Society’s Stories Around the State initiative, funded by the South Carolina American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission (SC250), to bring Revolutionary War stories directly to audiences across the state.

This is a free program and lunch will be provided. Please use the link below to register.
